Airmiles to Australia?

Post  L U Garden-path on Tue Aug 09, 2011 9:41 pm

Amazed to find today that although Airmiles indicate you can fly to Oz for 10k airmiles in fact you have to book 50 weeks in advance to have any chance, and they only fly to Sydney, not Melbourne. We have been saving for years to visit daughter in M'bourne at Xmas. We managed fine in 2006. I tried several alternative dates in feb, march, april, may but there was still no availability. Have others had same experience or is there a way round this? Feel like we have been led up the garden path, very disappointed.
